Browns Get Boost with Chubb’s Return, But Ford Sidelined
The wait is finally over for Cleveland Browns fans as star running back Nick Chubb is set to make his season debut against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. Chubb, a four-time Pro Bowl selectee, has been out of action since suffering a severe left knee injury in September 2023. After undergoing two surgeries and months of rehabilitation, he’s ready to take the field again.
A Long-Awaited Comeback
Chubb’s return is a welcome boost to a Browns offense that has struggled in his absence. The team’s leading rusher, Jerome Ford, has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury, making Chubb’s comeback all the more crucial. Despite being listed as questionable, Browns coach Stefanski expects Chubb to play, with a plan in place to manage his workload.
Cautious Approach
“We want to make sure that he’s available for the long term,” said offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey. Chubb, too, is feeling confident about his knee, saying, “I’m ready to get out there with my team, ready to do whatever I can. I feel good.” The team will undoubtedly be cautious with Chubb’s return, but his presence on the field is a significant morale boost.
Injury Updates
In other injury news, running back/return specialist Nyheim Hines, who has been recovering from a knee injury, is unlikely to play. Safety Ronnie Hickman has been ruled out, while linebacker Jordan Hicks, center Ethan Pocic, and safety Juan Thornhill are listed as questionable. The Browns will be hoping to get some of these players back on the field soon to bolster their chances against the Bengals.
