UConn Lands Top-Rated Center Eric Reibe for 2025 Class

UConn Lands Top Recruit Eric Reibe, Solidifying Their Position as a National Contender

In a major coup for Dan Hurley and the University of Connecticut, highly touted center Eric Reibe has committed to joining the Huskies in 2025. The 7-footer from Maryland’s Bullis School, ranked No. 23 overall in the ESPN 100, chose UConn over powerhouse programs like Kansas, Creighton, Indiana, and Oregon.

A Perfect Fit

Reibe’s decision was influenced by the Huskies’ proven track record of developing players for the NBA while competing at the highest level. “The player development stood out to me, especially with [Donovan] Clingan,” Reibe explained. “Sending six players to the league in two years and winning two national championships is very special.” The German national team representative was impressed by Coach Hurley’s plan for his growth and felt a strong connection with the coaching staff and players.

A Skilled Post Player

Reibe brings a unique set of skills to the table. The left-handed big man can score and pass with his back to the basket or while facing the basket, making him a nightmare to defend. His consistent touch and range on midrange and 3-point shots are complemented by his ability to pop and space, short-roll, or dive hard to the rim in ball-screen scenarios. When playing with his back to the basket, Reibe’s instincts, footwork, and moves are dictated by the location of his defender.

Defensive Improvements

Reibe’s commitment to improving his defense has been notable, according to his high school coach Bruce Kelly. “He can now move his feet well enough to switch pick-and-rolls and keep the ball handler in front of him. He is also very comfortable covering perimeter players as his primary matchup.” This newfound defensive prowess makes Reibe an even more valuable asset for the Huskies.

Strengthening the 2025 Class

Reibe joins top-20 guard Darius Adams (No. 19 in the ESPN 100) in the Huskies’ 2025 class. The program is also in the running for Braylon Mullins (No. 24), who is expected to announce his decision next week. With nine ESPN 100 prospects secured in the past three classes, UConn is solidifying its position as a national contender.
