Red Sox’s Star DH Masataka Yoshida Undergoes Shoulder Surgery
The Boston Red Sox’s talented designated hitter, Masataka Yoshida, is on the road to recovery after undergoing surgery to repair the labrum in his right shoulder. The 31-year-old slugger went under the knife on October 3, with Dr. Evan O’Donnell performing the procedure at Massachusetts General Hospital.
A Promising Career Cut Short by Injury
Yoshida’s impressive résumé boasts seven years of professional baseball experience in Japan, culminating in a five-year, $90 million contract with the Red Sox on December 7, 2022. Since joining the team, he has consistently delivered, posting an average of.285, with 261 hits, 116 runs, 25 homers, and 128 RBIs in 248 games.
A Season Marred by Injury
However, Yoshida’s 2024 season was marked by a significant setback. A left thumb strain forced him to the sidelines on April 28, keeping him out of action until June 11. As a result, he was limited to just 108 games last season.
The Road to Recovery
While the Red Sox have yet to confirm whether Yoshida will be ready for the start of spring training, fans are eagerly awaiting his return to the lineup. With his impressive track record and dedication to the game, there’s no doubt that Yoshida will come back stronger than ever, ready to make a lasting impact on the Red Sox’s 2025 season.
