LeBron, Curry Future Team-Up Uncertain

A Dream Team-Up: LeBron James and Stephen Curry

This summer, two NBA legends, LeBron James and Stephen Curry, joined forces to win the gold medal at the Paris Olympics for Team USA. Their successful partnership has sparked a question: will they ever team up again in the NBA?

A Remote Possibility

While James didn’t dismiss the idea entirely, the chances of them pairing up on an NBA court are slim. In February, James expressed his desire to finish his career with the Los Angeles Lakers, and the organization has since reaffirmed its commitment to him. The Lakers drafted James’ son, Bronny James, and LeBron signed a two-year, $104 million contract extension.

Curry’s Commitment to the Warriors

Meanwhile, Curry signed a one-year contract extension for $62.6 million in August, solidifying his commitment to the Golden State Warriors through the 2026-27 season. “I’ve always said I want to be a Warrior for life,” Curry told Andscape in July. “At this stage in my career, I feel like that’s possible.”

A Brief but Memorable Partnership

Although their time together on Team USA was short-lived, James and Curry made the most of it. They played 22 Finals games against each other over a four-year span from 2015 to 2018, but their 11-0 run together this summer was a highlight of their careers. “It was everything and more,” James said. “I was super excited to be able to finally team up with him in a win-or-die type atmosphere.”

Mutual Respect

James has immense respect for Curry, both on and off the court. “I understand what Steph has done for this game,” James said. “I understand what he’s done for his organization, what he’s done for the community, people all over the world.” Their brief partnership may have been a one-time thing, but the memories and respect they’ve gained for each other will last a lifetime.

The Next Generation

As James looks to the future, he’s less keen on discussing his son Bronny’s training camp experience. Despite the attention Bronny has generated, James insists that his son is a grown man who can handle the pressure himself. For now, James is focused on his own career and the memories he’s made with Curry.
