Notre Dame Secures Top Quarterback Commitment
In a major recruiting coup, Notre Dame has landed a commitment from four-star quarterback Blake Hebert, flipping the longtime Clemson pledge. This move comes less than two weeks after Deuce Knight’s surprise flip to Auburn.
Hebert’s Journey to South Bend
Hebert, ESPN’s No. 6 dual-threat passer in 2025, announced his decommitment from Clemson via X before pledging to Notre Dame minutes later on Monday evening. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound quarterback from Greenwich, Connecticut, had been committed to Dabo Swinney and the Tigers since June 16, 2023.
A New Chapter for Hebert
Hebert took to X to express his gratitude to the Clemson coaching staff and program, stating, “I’d like to start by thanking the Clemson coaching staff as well as the program itself for all they have done for me.” However, he ultimately chose to withdraw his commitment and spend his next four years at another institution.
A Boost for Notre Dame’s Recruiting Class
Hebert’s commitment is a significant boost for Notre Dame’s 2025 recruiting class, which had lost several key commitments in recent months. The Irish still hold commitments from nine ESPN 300 pledges in 2025, led by four-star offensive tackle Will Black (No. 99 in 2025 ESPN 300).
A Strong Addition to the Irish Roster
Hebert will arrive on campus alongside four-star tight end James Flanigan (No. 144), running back Justin Thurman (No. 300), and wide receiver Elijah Burress (No. 44 wide receiver in 2025). With Hebert on board, the Irish’s incoming class now sits at No. 14 in ESPN’s latest team rankings for the 2025 cycle.
A Promising Future for Hebert
Despite missing nearly all of his junior season due to an ankle fracture, Hebert showed promise as a first-year starter in his sophomore season, completing 58.3% of his passes for 1,748 yards with 24 touchdowns to one interception. With his commitment to Notre Dame, Hebert is poised to make a significant impact in the world of college football.
