Top-Ranked Golfer Nelly Korda Sidelined by Injury
A Blow to Fans in South Korea and Malaysia
The world’s number one golfer, Nelly Korda, has been forced to withdraw from the next two tournaments on the LPGA Tour’s Asia swing due to a minor neck injury sustained during practice. This means fans in South Korea and Malaysia will miss out on seeing the six-time winner this season in action.
Korda’s Statement
Taking to social media on Monday evening, Korda expressed her disappointment at missing the events and apologized to her fans who were looking forward to seeing her play. “I’m currently resting and working with my team to get better,” she said, thanking her supporters for their well-wishes.
Impact on the Season
Korda’s absence comes at a crucial time in the season, with the Asia swing concluding with the TOTO Japan Classic from October 31 to November 3. The season will end three weeks later at the CME Group Tour Championship in Florida, where Korda will be hoping to make a strong comeback.
Korda’s Dominant Season So Far
Before her injury, Korda had been enjoying an incredible season, winning six titles, including her second career major at the Chevron Championship. She currently holds a significant lead over New Zealand’s Lydia Ko in the season-long Race to the CME Globe standings, but has yet to win the season-long championship.
Uncertainty Surrounds Korda’s Return
While Korda has not announced when she plans to return to competition, her fans will be eagerly awaiting her comeback. In the meantime, the golfing world will be watching to see how her absence affects the remaining tournaments of the season.
