Raiders’ Stance on Davante Adams Trade Shifts
The Las Vegas Raiders’ situation with wide receiver Davante Adams has taken a surprising turn. Despite interest from other teams, league sources indicate that Adams may end up staying with the Raiders rather than being traded.
A Lack of Urgency from Other Teams
According to sources, the interest in Adams is not as high as expected, with one source describing it as “not phone-is-ringing-off-the-hook interest.” This lack of urgency from other teams can be attributed to the Raiders’ asking price, which includes a second-round draft pick and additional compensation. Furthermore, the Raiders are unwilling to pay any of the remaining money on Adams’ contract.
Raiders’ Conditions for a Trade
The Raiders have made it clear that they will not trade Adams simply for the sake of trading him. They are content to hold onto the three-time All-Pro if their conditions are not met. This stance has led to ongoing discussions with teams such as the New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills, and New Orleans Saints.
Adams’ Support for Aidan O’Connell
Another factor that may influence the Raiders’ decision is Adams’ support for quarterback Aidan O’Connell. Sources suggest that Adams is a big believer in O’Connell and has privately praised him as one of the best quarterbacks he has played with. With O’Connell named as the new starter, Adams may be more inclined to stay with the Raiders.
Injury Update
Adams is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury and will miss his third straight game on Sunday. However, Raiders coach Antonio Pierce indicated that Adams is close to returning, stating that “he’s still a Raider. When he’s healthy and he can play, we’ll play him.”
