Colorado’s Star Player Sidelined with Injury

BOULDER, Colo. – The Colorado Buffaloes suffered a significant setback on Saturday night when two-way star Travis Hunter exited the game with a right shoulder injury. Hunter, a Heisman Trophy contender and preseason All-American, sustained the injury in the second quarter and did not return.

Hunter’s Absence Felt by Team

The loss of Hunter was deeply felt by the team, as he leads the Buffaloes in receiving yards and touchdowns. He is also a key player on defense, with 17 tackles, three pass breakups, and two interceptions. Coach Deion Sanders acknowledged the impact of Hunter’s absence, saying, “Losing Travis and other players was tremendous because they’re a vital part of our team.”

Despite Setbacks, Buffaloes Rally

Despite losing Hunter and several other players to injury, the Buffaloes managed to rally in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Shedeur Sanders led two touchdown drives, including one that gave the team a brief lead. However, Kansas State ultimately took the win, 31-28.

Game-Changing Play by Backup Cornerback

One bright spot for the Buffaloes was the play of redshirt freshman Colton Hood, who replaced Hunter at cornerback. Hood made a game-changing interception late in the fourth quarter, returning it 59 yards and setting up a touchdown.

Coach Sanders Reflects on Tough Loss

After the game, Coach Deion Sanders reflected on the tough loss, saying, “Sometimes when you lose in life, you get your butt kicked and you just gotta take it. But sometimes you lose and you say, ‘Dang, we should’ve won that.’” Sanders expressed hope that the team’s injured players would return soon, but emphasized that they would not be rushed back.

Looking Ahead

The 4-2 Buffaloes will look to bounce back next Saturday when they face 3-3 Arizona on the road. Despite the tough loss, the team remains optimistic about their chances this season. As Coach Sanders said, “We just felt like we let that one slip away.”
