In a significant blow to their defense, the Seattle Seahawks are preparing to sideline one of their top players, outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu, due to a thigh injury. According to sources, Nwosu will be placed on injured reserve, forcing him to miss at least the next four games. This means he won’t be available until the team’s Week 11 rematch against the San Francisco 49ers, following their bye week.
Nwosu, a seasoned veteran in his seventh year, has been plagued by injuries. He sat out the final 11 games of the 2023 season with a torn pectoral muscle and the first four games of this season due to a sprained MCL suffered in the preseason finale. His long-awaited return to the field on Sunday was cut short after just 20 snaps in the loss to the New York Giants.
The Seahawks are also bracing for the possibility of being without rookie defensive tackle Byron Murphy II on Thursday night, as he continues to nurse a hamstring injury that has kept him sidelined for the past two games. Coach Mike Macdonald hinted that it may take another week for Murphy II to recover.
Additionally, the team may be without cornerback Riq Woolen, who is struggling with an ankle issue, and outside linebackers Derick Hall and Boye Mafe, who are dealing with foot and knee injuries, respectively. While Mafe’s status is uncertain, he did participate fully in practice on Tuesday, offering a glimmer of hope for his availability on Thursday night.
