Rising Star Secures Lucrative Deal with Nike
In a move that solidifies her status as one of the most promising young talents in women’s basketball, USC sophomore sensation JuJu Watkins has inked a multi-year contract extension with Nike. According to sources, the deal will catapult her into the elite echelon of endorsement earners in the sport.
The agreement, finalized on Tuesday, was brokered by Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul and Watkins’ representation team, including agent Jade-Li English, marketing guru Eric Eways, and basketball marketing VP Brittany McCallum. This marks a significant milestone for Watkins, who initially partnered with Nike as a high school senior in October 2022.
Last season, Watkins rewrote the record books, becoming the all-time leading scorer among freshmen in NCAA Division I women’s basketball history with an impressive 920 points. Her remarkable debut campaign also saw her guide the Trojans to the Elite Eight, the school’s deepest NCAA tournament run in over three decades. This season, she enters as the Associated Press’ Preseason Player of the Year, having finished second in the nation in scoring with an average of 27.1 points per game.
