In a move to bolster their roster, the Washington Capitals have inked a deal with seasoned forward Jakub Vrana, bringing him back to the nation’s capital on a one-year pact worth $775,000. The 28-year-old Czech native has a rich history with the Capitals, having been selected by the team with the 13th overall pick in the 2014 draft. During his initial stint with Washington, Vrana was an integral part of the team’s 2018 Stanley Cup championship squad.
After departing the Capitals, Vrana suited up for the Detroit Red Wings from 2021 to 2023 before joining the St. Louis Blues for the 2023-24 campaign. In his brief tenure with the Blues, he tallied two goals and four assists across 21 contests.
Throughout his 367-game NHL career, Vrana has amassed an impressive 209 points, comprised of 110 goals and 99 assists. His familiarity with the Capitals’ system and proven track record make him a valuable addition to the team’s lineup.
