A University of Georgia football player has been taken into custody on allegations of battery and assault of an unborn child, according to jail records in Athens-Clarke County. Colbie Young, a wide receiver from Binghamton, New York, was booked into the detention center early Tuesday morning.

Young, who previously played for Miami, joined the Bulldogs in December. The university’s athletic department has declined to comment on the matter, citing it as a pending legal issue.

According to a police report, a 20-year-old woman, identified as Young’s ex-girlfriend, claimed she visited his apartment to discuss their relationship. However, the conversation turned heated when she discovered he was on the phone with another woman. The woman alleged that Young physically pulled her out of his room, using derogatory terms and being demeaning towards her.

The situation escalated when the woman started to collect her belongings and received a phone call. Young allegedly grabbed her from behind, squeezing her torso and abdomen, causing injuries. The police officer who responded to the incident observed bruising and redness on the woman’s chest and abdomen.

Young’s attorney, Kim Stephens, has denied the allegations, stating that Young did not make physical contact with the woman and expects him to be fully exonerated once the investigation is complete.

Young has been a significant contributor to the Bulldogs’ offense, with 11 catches for 149 yards and two touchdowns in the team’s first five games. This incident comes on the heels of another Bulldogs player, Rodarius “Rara” Thomas, being dismissed from the team in August following his arrest on multiple family violence charges.
