In a significant move, the Orlando Magic have secured the services of their dominant center, Wendell Carter Jr., for the long haul. According to sources close to the negotiations, Carter has inked a three-year contract extension worth a staggering $59 million. This new deal ensures the 25-year-old Georgia native remains a key cog in the Magic’s rebuild, which has been gaining momentum since his arrival from the Chicago Bulls in 2021.
Carter’s impressive stats last season, including 11 points and 6.9 rebounds per game in just 25.6 minutes of action, made him a priority for the Magic’s front office. The team has now locked him in through the 2028-29 season, with a team option for the final year of the contract. This move solidifies the Magic’s frontcourt, which also features promising young stars Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner.
The Magic have been busy this offseason, re-signing big men Goga Bitadze and Moritz Wagner, as well as extending forward Jonathan Isaac. With Carter now firmly in the fold, the team’s core is set for the foreseeable future, providing a strong foundation for their continued growth and development.
