Across the Pond, NFL Players Bring a Blast from the Past to Life
In a nod to the iconic 1998 film “The Parent Trap,” Minnesota Vikings defensive backs Camryn Bynum and Josh Metellus electrified the crowd at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London with a retro-inspired celebration. The duo recreated the memorable handshake from the movie, complete with hip bumps, after a first-quarter interception.
The original film, a remake of the 1961 romantic comedy, tells the story of twin sisters separated at birth who reunite at summer camp. Lindsay Lohan shines as Annie James, a London-born twin with a unique bond with her family’s butler, Martin. The Vikings’ tribute was a fitting homage to James’ London roots, played out on the same soil where the character grew up.
The celebration was just the beginning for the Vikings’ defense, which went on to secure two more takeaways, including a thrilling pick-six on the previous drive. The team’s dominant performance culminated in a hard-fought 23-17 victory, leaving London with a win and a memorable pop culture moment that will be etched in fans’ minds for years to come.
