The Los Angeles Clippers and veteran forward P.J. Tucker have reached a mutual understanding that will see him step away from the team for the time being. This decision comes as the two parties work together to find a more suitable fit for the 39-year-old.
Tucker, a seasoned pro with a wealth of experience, is eager to continue making an impact in the league. The Clippers organization acknowledged his aspirations, stating, “We will continue to work closely with P.J. and his representative to find the best possible scenario for him moving forward.”
This marks the second instance where Tucker has taken a temporary leave from the team. Last season, he was one of two players, along with Bones Hyland, who were given time away from the team to recharge before the All-Star break. At the time, both players were unhappy with their roles.
Tucker’s frustration with his limited playing time last season led to a $75,000 fine from the NBA for publicly expressing his desire to be traded. In an interview, he emphasized his desire to find a team where he could contribute more significantly, saying, “I want to be somewhere where I’m needed, wanted, and can do it all.”
Despite picking up his $11.5 million player option for the current season, Tucker remains committed to finding a new opportunity that aligns with his goals. The Clippers organization is working closely with him to make that a reality.
