Liverpool’s Midfield Maestro Credits Coach’s Trust for Blistering Form
Ryan Gravenberch, the Reds’ dynamic midfielder, attributes his remarkable performances this season to the unwavering faith shown by manager Arne Slot. Since Slot’s arrival, Gravenberch has solidified his position as the team’s first-choice defensive midfielder, playing a pivotal role in Liverpool’s scintillating start to the campaign.
As the international break approaches, Liverpool sits atop the Premier League table with an impressive six wins from seven matches – the best start to a season under any Liverpool manager. Gravenberch believes his exceptional form is largely due to Slot’s trust in his abilities and his seamless adaptation to the No. 6 role.
“The manager’s confidence in me has been instrumental in my success,” Gravenberch explained. “I’m able to focus on my game, doing what comes naturally to me – much like I did during my time at Ajax.”
Gravenberch and Slot share a symbiotic understanding, with the midfielder revealing that they frequently discuss footballing strategies and philosophies. “We have a strong bond, and I’m thrilled to have him at the helm. Our shared vision for the game is centered around building from the back, which suits my playing style perfectly.”
After making a switch from Bayern Munich last season, Gravenberch struggled to find his footing, making just three Bundesliga starts. However, he has since flourished under Slot’s guidance, starting all seven of Liverpool’s Premier League matches this term. His ultimate goal is to continue this upward trajectory throughout the campaign.
“I’m proud to be playing for a top club like Liverpool, and my aim is to feature even more prominently than I did last season,” Gravenberch emphasized. “I’m on the right path, and I’m determined to keep pushing myself to new heights.”
