New York Jets Signal-Caller Aaron Rodgers Battles Through Pain, Expected to Face Buffalo Bills
Despite suffering a low ankle sprain, veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers is anticipated to take the field next Monday night when the New York Jets clash with the Buffalo Bills in a crucial AFC East showdown. According to Coach Robert Saleh, preliminary assessments indicate that Rodgers will be ready to go, although he will undergo further evaluation.
The 40-year-old quarterback endured a punishing outing in London, where the Jets fell to the Minnesota Vikings 23-17. Rodgers absorbed three sacks and 11 quarterback hits, bringing his total to 25 hits over the past two games – both losses. In the third quarter, he twisted his left ankle when his leg got caught under a pile, but he persevered and stayed in the game.
After the contest, Rodgers quipped that various body parts “made some noises” during the game. The previous week, he emerged with a swollen left knee. Coach Saleh attributed the quarterback’s beating to the high volume of pass attempts, stating, “The reality is, if you throw the ball over 50 times, the quarterback is going to get hit. Period.”
The Jets’ offense has struggled mightily, scoring only two touchdowns over the past two games. Rodgers’ three interceptions in the first quarter put the team in a 17-0 hole, and despite his valiant effort, the Jets ultimately fell short. Coach Saleh refused to pin the blame on the offensive line, instead citing the team’s inability to establish a rhythm and play catch-up against formidable defenses.
Despite the setbacks, the Jets remain just one game behind the Bills in the division and are poised for a critical matchup on Monday night at MetLife Stadium. Coach Saleh expressed confidence in his team’s ability to bounce back, saying, “I’m not panicked. Nobody in the building is panicked.”
In other injury news, nickelback Michael Carter II will undergo evaluation after injuring his hamstring during pregame warmups and playing only one defensive snap before exiting the game.
