Indianapolis Motor Speedway played host to a thrilling debut for Hollywood A-lister Keanu Reeves, who took the wheel for his first professional auto racing event on Saturday. The 60-year-old actor, best known for his iconic roles in “The Matrix” trilogy, navigated the challenging 45-minute race with mixed results.
Reeves, who qualified 31st out of 35 cars, managed to avoid a chaotic first-lap crash in Turn 14 and briefly climbed as high as 21st place. However, his progress was halted when he spun out of control on the exit of Turn 9, sliding across the grass with 21 minutes remaining. Fortunately, he emerged unscathed and without incident.
Despite the setback, Reeves persevered to finish 25th overall. He is competing in the Toyota GR Cup, a spec-racing series supporting this weekend’s Indy 8 Hour sports car event. The actor is driving the No. 92 BRZRKR car, which promotes his latest graphic novel venture, “The Book of Elsewhere.” Reeves shares the track with teammate Cody Jones from popular YouTube group “Dude Perfect.”
This isn’t Reeves’ first foray into racing; he previously participated in the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach’s celebrity race, claiming victory in 2009. With a second race scheduled for Sunday, fans will be eager to see how the actor fares in his next outing.
