The prestigious Basketball Hall of Fame has revealed its latest honorees, recognizing four exceptional individuals for their unwavering dedication to the sport. Film director and iconic courtside presence Spike Lee, actors Jack Nicholson and Billy Crystal, and real-estate developer Alan Horwitz will be celebrated during a special ceremony on October 13.
Lee, a New York Knicks season-ticket holder since 1985, has been a fixture at Madison Square Garden, famously engaging in a heated exchange with Indiana Pacers star Reggie Miller during the 1994 Eastern Conference finals. Nicholson, a three-time Oscar winner, has been a loyal Los Angeles Lakers fan since the 1970s, often sitting near the visiting team’s bench and adjusting his filming schedule to attend as many games as possible.
Crystal, a die-hard Los Angeles Clippers fan, has been supporting the team since its San Diego days in the late 1970s. He even had the opportunity to announce a 2018 Clippers-Lakers game alongside veteran play-by-play announcer Ralph Lawler. Horwitz, meanwhile, has been a devoted Philadelphia 76ers season-ticket holder for over 60 years, dating back to the team’s early days at the Philadelphia Convention Hall and Civic Center.
These four individuals will be recognized for their passion and commitment to the sport during a special SuperFan Gallery ceremony, held on the second floor of the Basketball Hall of Fame’s museum.
