In a crucial AFC North matchup, the Cincinnati Bengals will rely on their wealth of experience in facing dynamic quarterback Lamar Jackson to take down the Baltimore Ravens. Fortunately, several key defensive linemen who have been battling injuries will be back in action for Sunday’s game at Paycor Stadium. Coach Zac Taylor confirmed that defensive end Trey Hendrickson and defensive tackle B.J. Hill will suit up, bringing valuable knowledge of Jackson’s playing style to the table.
Second-year defensive end Myles Murphy, who faced the Ravens twice in his rookie season, emphasized the importance of having players who understand how to contain the two-time MVP winner. “Most of our guys have faced him multiple times, and that familiarity is crucial,” Murphy said. “It gives us an edge in knowing how he likes to operate.”
Murphy, who has been sidelined with a knee sprain, will make his season debut on Sunday. He and rookie defensive tackle McKinnley Jackson, who was also on injured reserve, were cleared to practice earlier this week. “Having healthy players is obviously important, but our experience against Jackson is a significant advantage,” Murphy added.
While the Bengals will be without defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins due to a hamstring injury, cornerback Mike Hilton’s status remains uncertain after missing practice all week with a knee issue. Despite these setbacks, Cincinnati is determined to secure its first divisional win of the season, having struggled in AFC North play last year with a 1-5 record.
Coach Taylor stressed the importance of protecting home turf, citing the need for a strong home record to achieve their season goals. “This game gives us the opportunity to get back on track and start the division off on the right foot,” Taylor said.
