A prominent boxing figure is moving forward with a defamation lawsuit against a well-known social media personality turned boxer. The lawsuit, filed in September 2022, alleges that the social media star made false and damaging accusations about the boxing figure’s business practices.
The accusations in question stem from an interview in which the social media personality claimed that the boxing figure had bribed a veteran judge in connection with two high-profile fights. The judge in question had scored both fights in favor of boxers promoted by the accused figure.
The social media personality, who has become a polarizing figure in the boxing world, acknowledged that the accusations were serious, but stood by his claims. “It’s just so blatantly obvious,” he said. “You’d think they would try to get a different judge to try and hide the corruption they are bringing to this sport.”
The boxing figure, however, vehemently denied the allegations, calling them “outlandishly false and baseless.” The judge in question also denied any wrongdoing, stating that the claims were completely unfounded.
A hearing has been set for October 16 to move forward with the lawsuit. The social media personality, who has a record of 10-1 in the ring, is set to face off against a boxing legend on November 15 in a highly anticipated match. The boxing figure, meanwhile, is one of the most prominent promoters in the sport, with a reputation for staging major events around the world.
