A prominent figure in the Formula 1 paddock has expressed concern over the exodus of top engineers from a leading team. The father of a current F1 driver believes that the departure of key personnel will have a significant impact on the team’s performance.
Earlier this year, allegations of controlling behavior by the team’s principal led to an internal investigation, which ultimately cleared the individual of any wrongdoing. However, the incident sparked tension within the team, and several high-profile engineers have since announced their departure.
Among those leaving are the chief technical officer, who will join a rival team in 2025, and the sporting director, who will take on a new role with a different manufacturer. The head of strategy is also set to depart for another team when their contract expires.
The concerned individual, who has been vocal about the team’s management, warned about the consequences of the team’s actions earlier this year. “This is exactly what I was worried about,” they said in a recent interview. “The team thinks it can just replace these people, but it’s too many leaving now. It’s not good for the team, and it’s not good for my son, who gets asked about it all the time.”
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the team, the current driver is committed to staying with the team until at least 2028. However, rumors persist about a potential move away from the team in the future.
