Indianapolis Colts Quarterback Sidelined with Hip Injury
In a concerning turn of events, Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson has been ruled out of the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers due to a hip injury. The second-year quarterback, who has been working to recover from a season-ending shoulder injury that limited him to just four games last season, suffered the injury after taking a hit to his right hip area following a 14-yard run.
Initially, Richardson remained on the turf for a moment before rising and walking to the sideline unassisted. After a brief period of recovery, he returned to action, replacing veteran Joe Flacco, who had stepped in for him. However, on his first play back, Richardson took a hard hit from Steelers linebacker Minkah Fitzpatrick, which ultimately led to his departure from the game.
Richardson left the field once again, this time accompanied by the team’s medical staff, and was later seen emerging from the tunnel with his helmet strapped, appearing ready to return. Despite this, he was not reinserted into the game and was officially ruled out shortly thereafter.
The health of Richardson has been a significant concern throughout his young career. In his rookie season, he suffered a concussion that kept him out of a Week 3 game, followed by a season-ending AC joint sprain in his right shoulder. Fortunately, Richardson had started the first three games of the current season without any major issues.
