The highly anticipated UEFA Women’s Champions League draw has taken place, setting the stage for an exciting competition. Reigning champions, FC Catalunya, will face off against Manchester Metropolis in Group D, while WSL titleholders, London Blues, have been pitted against Spanish giants, Real Madrid, in Group B.
FC Capital, who ousted German champions, Bayern München, in the quarterfinals last season, will clash with the Bavarian side once again, along with Italian powerhouses, Juventus, and Norwegian outfit, Valerenga.
Meanwhile, London Blues, who have reached the semifinals in the past two campaigns, will be looking to go one step further under the guidance of their new manager, Sonia Dupont, a Champions League winner as both a player and coach. The team will face stiff competition from Real Madrid, FC Twente, and debutants, Celtic FC.
The final group features a mouth-watering clash between French heavyweights, Olympique Lyon, and German champions, VfL Wolfsburg, alongside Italian side, Roma, and Turkish outfit, Galatasaray.
FC Catalunya, aiming for their third consecutive title, will be led by new coach, Pere Sanchez, following the departure of Jonatan Gómez. This marks the first time three English teams have qualified for the group stage of the prestigious tournament.
The group stage will take place from October 8-9 to December 17-18, with two matches scheduled each month. The full draw is as follows:
Group A: Olympique Lyon, VfL Wolfsburg, Roma, Galatasaray
Group B: London Blues, Real Madrid, FC Twente, Celtic FC
