**Tropical Depression Wreaks Havoc on Sports Schedule**
A powerful tropical depression has left a trail of destruction in its wake, forcing the cancellation of several sporting events across the country. Appalachian State University has called off its home football game against Liberty, citing severe damage to the campus and surrounding areas.
The university announced that the game will not be rescheduled, leaving Liberty with a potential gap in their schedule. Liberty’s athletic director expressed interest in finding a replacement game to maintain their 12-game regular season schedule, crucial for their College Football Playoff aspirations.
In other parts of North Carolina, East Tennessee State’s trip to Charleston, South Carolina, was cut short due to flash flooding, while the Denver Broncos were forced to adapt their practice schedule at the Greenbriar Resort in West Virginia. The team held their practice on the resort’s indoor tennis courts, a first for many of the players.
“It was definitely a unique experience,” said Broncos linebacker Cody Barton. “But we got our work done, and that’s what matters.”
The severe weather also affected the NHL, with the Nashville Predators postponing their preseason game against the Tampa Bay Lightning until October 7. As the storm continues to make its way across the country, sports teams and organizers are bracing for further disruptions to their schedules.
