Pittsburgh’s Ground Game Takes a Hit
The Pittsburgh Steelers will be without a key contributor to their backfield when they face off against the Indianapolis Colts, as Jaylen Warren has been ruled out due to a knee injury sustained in their Week 3 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers. Warren’s absence from practice all week made his status clear, and the team officially confirmed the news on Friday.
With Warren sidelined, the Steelers will rely heavily on Najee Harris to carry the load. Harris, who tallied 18 carries for 70 yards in the Chargers game, is expected to see an increased workload. In that same contest, Warren played only 22 snaps before being pulled by Coach Mike Tomlin due to concerns over his mobility.
Cordarrelle Patterson, a veteran threat with 12 years of experience, is poised to fill the void left by Warren’s absence. Signed in the offseason to handle kick return duties, Patterson showcased his versatility against the Chargers, playing 22 snaps and notching four rushes for 33 yards, as well as three receptions on five targets for 15 yards. When asked about his role, Patterson expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “Whenever my number’s called, I’m ready. Whether it’s at wide receiver, running back, or anywhere else on the field, I’m just excited to be here.”
