What a wild ride in college football! The Virginia Tech-Miami game will go down in history as one of the most mind-boggling finishes ever. Head coach Brent Pry’s clock management was questionable, to say the least, almost costing his team a shot at a last-ditch effort. Then, quarterback Kyron Drones launched the ball downfield, and chaos erupted. The officials were left scratching their heads, unsure who actually caught the pass. After a lengthy review, they initially ruled it a touchdown, only to overturn the call minutes later, leaving everyone stunned.
The replay showed the ball slipping out of the receiver’s hands, but it seemed like it might have been after the catch was already made. You’d think the call on the field would stand, but the replay officials had other ideas. It was a classic case of both teams doing their best to lose, and the ending was a fitting culmination of that.
I’m still trying to wrap my head around the last two minutes, let alone the final play. It looked like it could’ve been an incomplete pass, but there wasn’t enough evidence to overturn the touchdown, in my opinion. The ACC Replay Center’s decision to reverse the call and hand the win to Miami has left many wondering. What a finish! And it’s only Friday!
