Renowned soccer star endorses Saudi Arabia’s 2034 World Cup bid, citing cultural exchange opportunities
In a recent video message, a prominent Al Hilal forward has voiced his support for Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the 2034 World Cup. The soccer superstar, who made a high-profile move to the Saudi Pro League in August 2023, believes the event would be an electrifying experience for fans worldwide.
“I’m thrilled to see the World Cup taking place in Saudi Arabia,” the 32-year-old striker said. “It will be an incredible opportunity for people from all over the globe to learn about Saudi culture and the country itself. It will be a fantastic experience to share with everyone… They truly deserve this chance.”
The FIFA governing body is expected to confirm Saudi Arabia as the host nation in an uncontested vote by its 211 member federations before the end of the year. The 48-team tournament is slated to take place between November and December 2034.
As Brazil’s all-time leading scorer, the injured forward is currently in the final stages of his recovery from an ACL injury that has kept him sidelined since October 2023. Despite his absence from the field, his endorsement of the Saudi Arabian bid is a significant boost to the country’s hosting ambitions.
