**Injury Sidelines Key Lineman for Remainder of Season**
A devastating blow has struck the Cincinnati football team, as veteran offensive tackle Trent Brown will miss the rest of the season due to a severe knee injury. Brown suffered a ruptured patellar tendon in his right knee during Monday’s game against the Washington Commanders, a source confirmed.
The 10th-year player was carted off the field in the second quarter of the 38-33 loss at Paycor Stadium. Coach Zac Taylor expressed concern about Brown’s prognosis after the game, which was later confirmed on Tuesday. The news was first reported by NFL Network.
Brown, a former University of Florida standout, started each of the team’s first three regular-season games at right tackle while rookie Amarius Mims recovered from a pectoral injury. Mims, the team’s first-round pick, made his NFL debut on Monday and finished the game.
Center Ted Karras, who played with Brown in New England from 2018 to 2021, expressed disappointment about the injury. “That’s a longtime teammate and friend and brother of mine,” Karras said. “Never like to see that.”
Brown signed a one-year deal worth up to $4.75 million with the team this offseason and started training camp on the physically unable to perform list. Despite being cleared to practice on August 4, Mims continued to take the first-team reps until he got hurt in the preseason opener against Tampa Bay.
Karras expressed confidence in Mims’ ability to step up, saying, “Nobody better for the job. A guy we drafted to play right tackle. Excited for him to show what he can do on a full week’s prep.”
