**Titans Cornerback to Miss Extended Time with Groin Injury**
The Tennessee Titans suffered a significant blow to their defense in Sunday’s 30-14 loss to the Green Bay Packers, as starting cornerback Chidobe Awuzie went down with a groin injury. According to Coach Brian Callahan, Awuzie’s injury will likely keep him sidelined for an extended period, with a possible stint on injured reserve.
“Awuzie has a groin issue, and we’re expecting him to miss some weeks,” Callahan said. “The exact timeline is uncertain, but he’ll definitely be out for a while.”
Awuzie sustained the injury while covering Packers receiver Romeo Doubs on the final defensive play of the first quarter. The Titans had signed Awuzie to a three-year, $36 million contract in March.
Rookie cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr. stepped in for Awuzie, playing 28 snaps and impressing coaches. Callahan confirmed that Brownlee will start opposite L’Jarius Sneed while Awuzie recovers. Second-year cornerback Darrell Baker Jr. also saw action in the game.
If Awuzie lands on injured reserve, the Titans may consider promoting cornerback Tre Avery from the practice squad to the active roster.
