In a recent matchup, a devastating injury struck a top player from the University of Oklahoma’s football team. During Saturday’s game against Tennessee, senior defensive back Kendel Dolby suffered a severe right ankle dislocation in the second quarter. According to Coach Brent Venables, Dolby will require surgery to repair the damage.
The incident occurred with 8:58 minutes left in the first half, when Dolby collided with Tennessee tackle John Campbell Jr. His leg twisted awkwardly, prompting him to clutch at it in pain. The Oklahoma defense rallied around Dolby as he was treated, and he was eventually taken off the field with his leg in an air cast.
Dolby, a junior college transfer, had an impressive season last year with 49 tackles, earning him honorable mention All-Conference honors. This season, he had accumulated seven tackles before Saturday’s game, despite missing the previous week’s matchup against Tulane due to a concussion.
The Sooners are also dealing with the loss of wide receiver Nic Anderson, who has been sidelined with an undisclosed injury. Anderson started Saturday’s game but later returned to the locker room and emerged in street clothes. Coach Venables revealed that Anderson had re-aggravated his quad strain.
Oklahoma’s receiving corps has been plagued by injuries, with Jayden Gibson out for the season due to a knee injury and Jalil Farooq sidelined with a broken foot sustained in the season opener against Temple.
