In a recent press conference, Titans head coach Brian Callahan stood firmly behind his starting quarterback, Will Levis, despite the team’s 0-3 start to the season. Levis has struggled with turnovers, committing eight in just three games, including two in the team’s latest loss to the Green Bay Packers. However, Callahan emphasized that the blame shouldn’t solely fall on Levis’ shoulders.
“We need to play better around him,” Callahan said. “Interceptions happen, but we can’t give the ball away to the opposing team. It’s a game-changer. We haven’t played a complete game in any phase yet.”
Levis’ turnovers have been costly, including an interception returned for a touchdown by Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander. Despite his struggles, Levis remains confident in his abilities and is committed to turning the team’s fortunes around.
“I’m still confident in myself and this team,” Levis said. “We’re waiting for that spark to ignite, and we’ll keep working every day to make it happen.”
The Titans’ defense has also been a major concern, failing to generate a takeaway in their latest loss and allowing the Packers to rush for 188 yards. Defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons acknowledged that everyone needs to step up their game, but he still believes in Levis as the starter.
“I believe in Will, I believe in this team,” Simmons said. “We all need to do our jobs better.”
Veteran receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who scored his first touchdown of the season on an 11-yard pass from Levis, also endorsed his quarterback. “I wouldn’t want anyone else out there on the field,” Hopkins said. “Will prepares well and goes about his day the right way. He’ll learn from his mistakes, and it’s only a matter of time before he finds his rhythm.”
