Boston’s Star Third Baseman Receives Positive Diagnosis on Shoulder Injury
Rafael Devers, the talented third baseman for the Boston Red Sox, has received a clean bill of health regarding his recent shoulder injury. After being placed on the 10-day injured list with left shoulder inflammation, Devers announced that he will not require surgery and is confident he’ll be ready for spring training.
Devers, who will turn 28 later this month, revealed that he has been dealing with shoulder issues since the beginning of the season. Despite the discomfort, he managed to put together an impressive campaign, batting.272 with 28 home runs and 83 RBIs in 138 games. His impressive performance earned him a 10-year contract extension worth $313.5 million earlier this year.
“I’ve been feeling it all season, and it’s been affecting my game,” Devers said through a translator after the Red Sox’s 8-1 victory over the Minnesota Twins. “But thankfully, the diagnosis wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, and I just need to focus on getting ready for next year.”
Devers plans to stay with the team for a while before returning to his native Dominican Republic, where he’ll embark on a rehabilitation program to strengthen his shoulders. He’s optimistic about his prospects for the upcoming season, stating, “I’m confident I’ll be at full strength by spring training.”
