The 2024 season is still young, and I’m choosing to remain optimistic about the team’s chances. A win on Sunday would put them right back on track, and with a strong defense, it’s only a matter of time before the offense finds its footing. After all, many teams have struggled to score so far this season. It’s entirely possible that the team will finish with 10 wins and a playoff berth.
However, my concerns lie beyond this season. The ultimate goal is to win the championship, and I’m not convinced that the current head coach is the right person to lead the team to that level of success. Despite having a new defensive coordinator and a new offensive coordinator, the team’s record remains underwhelming. The mistakes and penalties that have plagued the team are a cause for concern, and the blown leads late in games are particularly troubling.
When building around a franchise quarterback, continuity and identity are crucial. We’ve seen what happens when there’s a lack of consistency in coaching and play-calling – it can stunt a player’s growth and hinder the team’s progress. I fear that we’re headed down a similar path with our current quarterback.
I’ve always believed that a strong leader with a clear vision is essential for success. Someone who can instill a sense of identity and purpose in the team. Unfortunately, I don’t think that’s what we have right now. It’s not about being negative or pessimistic; it’s about wanting the best for the team.
I’d love to be proven wrong, and I hope that the team will prove me wrong. I hope they’ll go on to win multiple championships and make me eat my words. But until then, I’ll continue to worry about the long-term future of the team and their ability to achieve greatness.
