The thrill of victory! As the top dog in the NFC East, it’s hard not to feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. Sure, naysayers will claim it’s only week two, but someone’s gotta be leading the pack, and right now, that someone is us.
Let’s take a closer look at the rest of the division and what the future holds. The Eagles, for instance, had a dismal showing last night. Their coach’s questionable decisions on clock management, play calling, and defense left fans scratching their heads. Even without their star player, AJ Brown, expectations were higher.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys suffered a crushing defeat on Sunday. Dak Prescott’s hefty paycheck didn’t quite translate to a win against Derek Carr, and with Mike McCarthy at the helm, it’s hard to be optimistic about their chances. Originally predicted to go 10-7, it’s now looking like they might be the biggest letdown of the season.
And then there’s the Giants. Oh, the Giants. Daniel Jones managed to look somewhat competent against our less-than-stellar secondary, but ultimately came up short. The Giants are struggling, and it’s hard not to feel a sense of schadenfreude.
Realistically, we shouldn’t get too comfortable at the top. Our secondary has its weaknesses, and our wide receiver room is paper-thin. We’re in the midst of a rebuild, and while it’s fun to bask in the glory of first place, it’s unlikely to last. However, this is a warning to the rest of the division: we’re on the rise, and in a few years, we’ll be the ones to beat. Just you wait.
