**US Soccer Hits Rock Bottom, Then Digs Deeper with Pochettino Hire**

The Honeymoon Phase is Over: A Desperate Call for Change

Today was supposed to be a day of celebration, a day to bask in the glory of a new era. After months of anticipation, our team finally secured a top-notch coach, a move that was hailed as a masterstroke. I still believe it’s a great hire, but the euphoria was short-lived.

The new coach spoke about making history, and I couldn’t agree more. This team has talent, no question about it. While I’m not naive enough to think we can win the World Cup, I do believe we have the potential to make a deep run in 2026.

But then reality hit us hard. A lackluster tie against New Zealand, of all teams, in a home game no less. It didn’t matter that our top players weren’t on the field; it was New Zealand, a team we should be beating comfortably. The fact that we didn’t win, especially after our recent struggles, is a massive concern.

There were a few positives, like one player’s valiant effort off the bench, but it wasn’t enough to mask the overall disappointment. We’ve hit rock bottom, and it’s time for a change.

Our next game in October against Panama is a must-win. We need to see our best players on the field, giving it their all and showing some heart. No more excuses, no more hiding behind a subpar coach. It’s time for our players to take ownership and change the culture.

As one player so eloquently put it, it’s time for a shift in mentality. We need to see a sense of urgency, a sense of purpose. Our new coach has a lot of work to do, but it starts with a win in October. Please, for the love of the game, let’s see some progress.
