In a thrilling conclusion to the regular season, a driver who had yet to taste victory this year has secured a coveted spot in the playoffs. Chase Briscoe, behind the wheel of the #14 car, took the checkered flag at Darlington, marking his second career Cup win. This triumph comes on the heels of a tumultuous season, with Briscoe’s team, Stewart Haas Racing, set to dissolve. However, he’s already secured a new ride with Joe Gibbs Racing for the 2025 season.
The 500-mile race was filled with drama from start to finish. A lap 3 wreck took out Ryan Blaney and Martin Truex Jr., setting the tone for a chaotic afternoon. Later, Tyler Reddick’s bout of food poisoning led to one of the most hilarious tweets in NASCAR history. Even NBA legend Michael Jordan, in attendance to support his driver Bubba Wallace, couldn’t will his team into the playoffs.
Kyle Busch, winless this season, came agonizingly close to securing a playoff spot but ultimately fell short, finishing second for the second consecutive week. This marks the first time he’s missed the playoffs since 2012.
As the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs prepare to kick off at Atlanta Motor Speedway, the field is set for an electrifying battle. Tune in for a comprehensive recap of the Darlington race and a preview of the Atlanta showdown, as well as the rest of the NASCAR Playoffs.
