Wrestling’s Lost Laughter: Can Comedy Save the Sport?

Laughter and Entertainment: The Missing Link in Modern Professional Wrestling

As I scroll through my feed, I’m greeted with a familiar sight – two wrestlers who never fail to crack me up. Their antics have me in stitches, a feeling I haven’t experienced in a long time when it comes to professional wrestling. It’s a refreshing change from the current state of the sport, which seems to have lost its lighthearted, entertaining edge.

The Golden Age of Wrestling

I still make it a point to attend live wrestling events when they come to town, as there’s nothing quite like the energy of a live crowd. However, following the storylines and keeping track of the numerous wrestlers has become a daunting task. The sheer number of characters and their often-lame gimmicks has made it difficult for me to stay invested.

A Blast from the Past

Perhaps it’s time for me to explore other options, like AEW or independent circuits, to recapture the excitement I once felt during the attitude era of WWF. While I appreciate the absurdity of certain characters, like Co-Kane, I’m not sure I’m ready to dive into the world of Juggalo Championship Wrestling.

The Battle for Comedy Supremacy

One thing’s for sure – these two wrestlers have got me laughing. Their entrance songs, complete with crowd participation, are comedy gold. Steven Flowe’s parody of “Even Flow” is a particular standout, with its cleverly altered lyrics that have me in hysterics. This is exactly what I miss about wrestling today – the over-the-top, laugh-out-loud humor that made it so entertaining.

A Trip Down Memory Lane

As I reminisce about the good old days, I’m reminded of some of the most ridiculous, yet lovable, wrestling characters and gimmicks. From Coco B. Ware to Irwin R. Scheister, these larger-than-life personalities brought a level of excitement and humor to the sport that’s sorely lacking today.

The Search for Entertainment Continues

While I may not be following professional wrestling as closely as I once did, I still hold out hope that it can recapture its former glory. Until then, I’ll continue to enjoy the comedic stylings of these two wrestlers, who remind me of a time when wrestling was truly entertaining.
