The Unraveling of TikTok and My Sunday Routine
As I sit down to write this article, I’m filled with a mix of emotions – anxiety, frustration, and a hint of sadness. Why, you ask? Well, it’s because the United States TikTok ban might actually become a reality, and I’m not sure I’m ready to let go of my Sunday guilty pleasure.
A Glimpse into My Sunday Afternoon
For those who are new here, I’m the mastermind behind “Dumping Them Out,” a weekly blog that’s equal parts entertaining and informative. My Sundays typically involve crafting a 1,000-word masterpiece, accompanied by 10-15 carefully curated GIFs. But, I must confess, there was a brief period when the GIFs disappeared, and I’m still apologizing for that traumatic experience.
The TikTok Conundrum
The news of a potential TikTok ban initially seemed like a far-fetched idea, but it appears our government is determined to protect our personal information from Chinese hands. I’m not sure I blame them, but I do have a soft spot for China – their portion sizes are generous, and Rush Hour is a childhood favorite. However, I understand the concerns surrounding data privacy.
A Silver Lining?
If TikTok disappears, it might be a blessing in disguise for me. I’ve always dreamed of becoming a green-screen news anchor, and a new American version of TikTok could be my ticket to stardom. I’d be one of the pioneers, reading the news to a captivated audience. It’s a tantalizing prospect, especially since nobody seems to enjoy reading lengthy articles anymore.
The Indian Kid Hunger Games
But, I’ll miss one thing – the Indian kid hunger games. Muzamil, the reigning champion, is on a historic streak, and his sportsmanship is admirable. On the other hand, Mr. Greedy needs to be stopped; his cheating and bullying tactics are unacceptable. The thought of not being able to follow their journeys is devastating.
A Bittersweet Goodbye
As the TikTok ban looms, I’m left with mixed emotions. While it might be a good thing for me in the long run, I’ll miss the entertainment and the sense of community it provides. Perhaps it’s time for me to reevaluate my priorities and find a new hobby – or a good book to get lost in. As the saying goes, “When you find yourself wishing bad things on children on the other side of the planet because you don’t like the way he plays a kid’s game, it’s time to get rid of the app you’re doing that on.”
