Dolphins in Distress: A Franchise Adrift in Failure

A Franchise in Shambles: The Miami Dolphins’ Descent into Disarray

The 2024-25 Miami Dolphins season will forever be etched in the annals of franchise history as a catastrophic failure. Having witnessed the team’s 1-15 debacle, the infamous Cleo Lemon era, and their propensity for choking in crucial moments, I am left seething with frustration. However, nothing compares to the sheer outrage I feel towards owner Stephen Ross’s public declaration that Chris Grier’s job is secure.

Grier’s Glaring Incompetence

How can Ross justify Grier’s retention when he failed to sign a capable backup quarterback, knowing full well that Tua Tagovailoa is prone to injuries? This oversight alone warrants termination. Moreover, Grier has consistently belittled fan concerns, including those regarding the offensive line, which remains a glaring weakness nearly a decade later.

A Legacy of Failure

Grier’s 20-year tenure has been marked by rosters that impress on paper but falter on the field. The Tyreek Hill debacle serves as a prime example – he openly expressed his desire to leave the team. Year after year, Grier has let the franchise down, with his draft blunders being a significant contributor to the team’s woes.

Draft Day Disasters

The 2019 season saw the Dolphins in full tank mode, yet Grier hired Brian Flores, who refused to tank. As a result, the team won five games, missing out on Joe Burrow. In the following draft, Grier opted for the injury-prone Tua Tagovailoa over Justin Herbert. Since then, Tua has played only one full season.

Fast forward to the 2021 NFL Draft, where the Dolphins held the 3rd overall pick. Instead of selecting Ja’Marr Chase or Penei Sewell, they traded back and chose Jaylen Waddle. While Waddle hasn’t been terrible, he pales in comparison to the players they passed on.

A Legacy of Incompetence

Grier’s 20-year tenure has yielded zero playoff wins. Meanwhile, Stephen Ross’s ownership has resulted in a paltry five winning seasons in 16 years. His priorities seem misplaced, as evidenced by the construction of the “72 Club” at Hard Rock Stadium, which has ruined the atmosphere for regular fans.

A Call to Action

It’s time for Dolphins fans to take a stand. Stop supporting the team financially until Chris Grier is fired or Stephen Ross sells the franchise. The status quo is unacceptable, and it’s time for change. Enough is enough.
