A Missed Opportunity: Celtics Fall to Cavaliers
The Boston Celtics had a prime chance to take control of the Eastern Conference, but they let it slip away. Despite being shorthanded, the Cleveland Cavaliers fought hard and came out on top, winning 115-112. The Celtics had a 12-point lead heading into the final quarter, but they collapsed, allowing the Cavs to score 31 points in the final 7 minutes.
The Good: Porzingis and Tatum Shine
Kristaps Porzingis made a significant impact in his return to the court, showing no signs of rust after missing months of basketball. He completely shut off the paint and rim scoring, limiting the Cavs to just 40 points in the paint. Offensively, he was a problem for the Cavs, forcing them to guard him from 35 feet and creating opportunities for his teammates.
Jayson Tatum had a strong game, producing 33 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal. He manipulated the game well, adapting to the situation and delivering when it mattered most.
The Bad: Holiday’s Struggles Continue
Jrue Holiday had a disappointing game, struggling on both ends of the floor. He shot just 30% from the field and 14% from three, and his defense was lacking, allowing Donovan Mitchell to score easily.
Al Horford had a tough shooting night, going 3-10 from the field and 2-9 from three. He and Holiday combined for just 2 points in the second half, which was a significant factor in the Celtics’ collapse.
The Ugly: Fourth Quarter Collapse
The Celtics’ fourth-quarter performance was atrocious. They allowed the Cavs to score 31 points in the final 7 minutes, including 9 points from the free-throw line. The Celtics, on the other hand, managed just 9 points via baskets during that period. It was a complete breakdown on both ends of the floor.
The Celtics had a chance to make a statement, but they choked it away. They need to regroup and refocus, as they have a chance to redeem themselves against the Miami Heat tonight.
