Ridiculous Suggestion Sparks Outrage
The College Football Playoff (CFP) season is heating up, and with it, comes a flurry of opinions and predictions from experts and analysts alike. However, one suggestion has left many scratching their heads – Joey Galloway’s recommendation to bench Indiana’s starting quarterback, Kurtis Rourke, in the Hoosiers’ most crucial game of the season.
A Recipe for Disaster
Galloway’s argument stems from what happened to Florida State’s Jordan Travis last year. But there’s a glaring issue with this logic – the CFP landscape has changed significantly since then. With eight additional spots up for grabs, FSU would have easily secured a spot even without Travis. Moreover, Indiana’s schedule has been a cakewalk, with not a single team posing a legitimate threat. Why would they risk everything by sitting their star quarterback?
The Consequences of Playing It Safe
If Indiana were to follow Galloway’s advice, it would be a monumental mistake. The CFP committee would likely view this move as a lack of competitiveness, disqualifying the Hoosiers from any chance at a top-tier bowl game. You can’t have your cake and eat it too – playing a weak schedule and then benching starters against a quality opponent is not a recipe for success.
A Dose of Reality
Indiana’s only opportunity to prove themselves comes in this one meaningful game. Sitting Rourke would be a slap in the face to the fans and the team itself. It’s time for the Hoosiers to put their best foot forward and show they belong among the elite. Anything less would be an embarrassment. Bring on the competition, and let the best team win!
