Troy Trojans Lose Star QB Goose Crowder for Season

Troy Quarterback Sidelined for Season

A crushing blow has been dealt to the Troy Trojans, as quarterback Goose Crowder will miss the remainder of the season due to an undisclosed injury. The decision was made by the team’s medical staff, with the school announcing the news on social media.

A Promising Season Cut Short

Crowder, a junior, had shown great promise in his four games this season, passing for 535 yards and five touchdowns without throwing a single interception. His absence will undoubtedly be felt by the team, which is already struggling with a 1-6 record and 0-3 in Sun Belt Conference games.

Coach Parker’s Praise

Despite the setback, Trojans coach Gerad Parker had nothing but praise for Crowder, saying, “Goose is one of the toughest football players that I’ve had the privilege of coaching… He has handled this with the class and maturity that you would expect from a man of his character.” Parker emphasized that the long-term health of student-athletes is always the top priority.

The Search for a Replacement

In Crowder’s absence, Tucker Kilcrease and Matthew Caldwell have split time under center. While both have shown flashes of brilliance, they will need to step up their game if the Trojans hope to turn their season around. Caldwell has passed for 430 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions, while Kilcrease has thrown for 377 yards with three touchdowns and one interception.

A Tough Road Ahead

The Trojans face a tough test on Saturday as they travel to Arkansas State. With their two-time defending Sun Belt Conference championship title slipping further away, the team will need to dig deep to find the strength and determination to overcome the loss of their star quarterback.
