Brewers Shake Up Coaching Staff with New Hitting Coaches
The Milwaukee Brewers have made a significant change to their coaching staff, promoting Al LeBoeuf and Eric Theisen from their Triple-A affiliate to take over as hitting coaches. LeBoeuf, 64, will serve as the lead hitting coach, while Theisen, 39, will join the staff as a hitting coach.
A New Era for Brewers Hitters
The move marks a new era for the Brewers’ hitting corps, which had been led by co-hitting coaches Connor Dawson and Ozzie Timmons for the past three seasons. While Dawson will remain on the coaching staff next season, Timmons will not return. Matt Arnold, Brewers president of baseball operations, praised LeBoeuf’s experience and relationships with the team’s young hitters, saying, “Al has played a key role in the development of many of the young hitters you see on the major league team today.”
A Proven Track Record
LeBoeuf brings a wealth of experience to the role, having spent six years as a Triple-A hitting coach, including the past three seasons with Nashville. He has also coached in the farm systems of the Philadelphia Phillies, New York Mets, Kansas City Royals, and Toronto Blue Jays. Theisen, meanwhile, has spent four seasons in the Brewers organization, joining the team as a hitting coach with Single-A Carolina in 2021.
A Smooth Transition
Arnold expressed confidence in the transition, saying, “Al and Eric have worked alongside each other as hitting coaches in the farm system, and we look forward to them joining Connor at the major league level.” The Brewers are coming off a successful season, having won their second straight NL Central title under first-year manager Pat Murphy. The team ranked sixth in the majors in runs scored and eighth in batting average, and will look to build on that success with their new hitting coaches.
A Bright Future Ahead
With LeBoeuf and Theisen at the helm, the Brewers are poised for continued success in the years to come. As Arnold noted, “Al has had a long journey to get here, and we are very excited for him.” The team’s young hitters will undoubtedly benefit from LeBoeuf’s expertise and guidance, and fans can expect to see even more exciting baseball from the Brewers in the future.
