Vikings’ Aaron Jones Expected to Suit Up Against Lions
Minnesota Vikings fans can breathe a sigh of relief as star running back Aaron Jones is likely to take the field on Sunday against the Detroit Lions. According to a source close to the team, Jones is expected to play despite being listed as questionable with a hamstring injury.
A Week of Uncertainty
Jones’ availability for Sunday’s game had been up in the air all week. He missed the team’s full-pads practice on Wednesday, but managed to participate in limited capacity on Thursday and Friday. Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell remained tight-lipped about Jones’ chances of playing, leaving fans wondering if their star player would be able to contribute.
The Injury
Jones first felt tightness in his right hip during pregame warmups before the Vikings’ Week 5 game against the New York Jets in London. Although it loosened up before kickoff, he aggravated the injury after making a spectacular 23-yard catch from backup quarterback Nick Mullens. “That play really kind of did it,” Jones recalled. He took two more carries before the medical staff decided to pull him from the game as a precautionary measure.
A Welcome Return
Jones’ expected return is a significant boost for the Vikings, who will need all hands on deck to take down the visiting Lions. With their star running back likely to suit up, the team is looking to make a statement on Sunday.
