Colts’ Anthony Richardson Set to Return Against Dolphins After 2-Game Absence

Richardson Returns: Colts’ Quarterback Set to Start Against Dolphins

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson is poised to make his comeback to the starting lineup this Sunday, facing off against the Miami Dolphins. After a two-game hiatus due to an oblique injury, Richardson has been deemed fit to play, and he’ll have a slew of healthy targets to aim for downfield.

Wide Receivers Ready to Roll

Michael Pittman Jr. (back), Josh Downs (toe), and Alec Pierce (shoulder) are all expected to take the field, despite being listed as questionable earlier in the week. Pierce, the team’s leading receiver, has racked up 368 yards and three touchdowns so far this season. Pittman and Downs follow closely behind, combining for 512 yards and four scores.

A Welcome Return

Richardson’s return to the lineup comes after a two-game absence, during which veteran Joe Flacco filled in against the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans. Colts coach Shane Steichen opted not to play Richardson last week, citing that he wasn’t yet fully healed. However, this week saw Richardson participate fully in practice, taking all the starter’s reps for the first time since his injury.

Steichen’s Vote of Confidence

“He looked good,” Steichen said of Richardson’s performance in practice. “He was throwing crisp passes, he was right in the pocket, got out, moved him around, ran a lot. So, he looked really good.” With Steichen’s endorsement, Richardson is set to try and establish some much-needed consistency, having sat out 15 of 21 regular-season games since being drafted No. 4 in 2023.

A New Chapter for Richardson

As Richardson takes the field against the Dolphins, he’ll be looking to put his injury woes behind him and make a lasting impact on the Colts’ season. With a talented cast of wide receivers at his disposal, Richardson has the tools to succeed – now it’s up to him to deliver.
