Sunny Side Up: Beach Manners Matter

Beach Etiquette 101: A Lesson in Common Sense

The beach is a haven for relaxation and recreation, offering something for everyone. Whether you’re looking to unwind, catch up on some reading, or get in a workout, the beach provides the perfect setting. And, of course, there are those who want to have a little fun in the sun with a game or two. Who can blame them? A friendly game of beach volleyball or a casual toss of the football can create lifelong memories.

However, there’s a fine line between having a good time and being downright reckless. Take, for instance, the two individuals who decided to set up a makeshift football field directly in front of people swimming in the water. What were they thinking? Did they honestly believe they could kick field goals without disturbing the people mere feet away? The worst-case scenario was always going to be a disaster waiting to happen – and, unfortunately, that’s exactly what occurred.

Kicking a ball near unsuspecting beachgoers is one thing, but shanking it into someone’s face is an entirely different story. It’s a staggering display of thoughtlessness, especially considering this was supposed to be a relaxing spring break trip. As a penalty for their carelessness, these two individuals should be buying drinks for the entire day – or perhaps even the rest of the conversation.

The beach is meant to be a place where people can come together and enjoy the sun, sand, and surf. It’s not a playground for reckless abandon. So, to all the would-be beach football stars out there, take heed: respect your fellow beachgoers and keep your games in check. Everyone’s just trying to have a good time – without getting hit in the face by a stray football.
