In a shocking display of ignorance, a Washington football fan decided to vandalize the iconic Rocky statue in Philadelphia, draping it in Commanders gear and plastering the Redskins logo on it. This egregious act is not only disrespectful to the beloved movie character but also perpetuates racism. Rocky, a symbol of inclusivity and equality, would never condone such behavior.
A Lack of Playoff Experience
It’s clear that Washington fans are new to the world of playoff football. For years, they’ve been absent from the postseason, never having to worry about headlines or keeping up with the latest news. But now, as they stand on the cusp of greatness, they’re making rookie mistakes. Messing with the Rocky statue is a well-documented curse, one that has doomed teams like the Vikings, Patriots, and 49ers in the past.
A History of Failure
In 2017, the Vikings fell victim to the curse, losing to the Eagles in the NFC Championship Game. The Patriots suffered a similar fate in Super Bowl LII, and the 49ers met their demise in the 2022 NFC Championship Game. Now, it seems the Washington Commanders are next in line. As a billionaire owner, Josh Harris should be launching an investigation to identify the guilty party and put an end to this nonsense.
The Protector of Rocky
In the past, I took it upon myself to guard the Rocky statue, protecting it from vandals and opposing fans. But now, I think it’s better to let these fans continue to make fools of themselves. By draping their colors over Rocky, they’re essentially cursing their own team. It’s a clever tactic, really. So, I’ll be stepping down as the protector of Rocky, letting the fans continue to sabotage their own chances of success.

As the Commanders prepare to take on the Eagles, they should be warned: messing with the Rocky statue is a recipe for disaster. It’s time to focus on the game, not on vandalizing iconic landmarks. The fate of their season hangs in the balance, and it’s up to them to decide whether they want to succumb to the curse or rise above it.
