Champions in the Making
The wait is finally over, and what a game it was! After a thrilling matchup, we’re still reeling from the excitement. I must admit, I dropped the ball by not posting a blog immediately after the game. Instead, I went straight to the podium and held an impromptu two-hour press conference on Twitter, unofficially sponsored by Coors Light. Lesson learned – I need to do better.
A Call to Action
But I’m not the only one who needs to step up their game. Quinn Ewers and Texas had a golden opportunity to tie the game against the prohibitive favorites, but they faltered. When you have a 1st and Goal, you can’t afford to let it slip away. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened, and Jack Sawyer made them pay with an 83-yard game-changing play.
Pure Joy
My reaction? I’m pretty sure I lost consciousness. It’s been a while since I felt that kind of elation – the last time was during the 2015 National Championship, and that was fueled by celebratory drinks. This time, it was pure, unadulterated joy.
Credit Where Credit is Due
Texas’ defense deserves credit for keeping us in check after our initial two drives. We scored an easy touchdown and were driving until TreVeyon’s unsportsmanlike penalty killed the momentum. From then on, it was anyone’s game. But in the end, we emerged victorious.
The Road Ahead
Our reward for this hard-fought win? Ten days to prepare for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the National Championship. My prediction? We’re going to win – and win big. We’re significantly better than this team, and our path to the championship has been the toughest in the history of the sport.
A Glimpse into the Future
As for the Michigan loss, stay tuned for my thoughts on that one. And get ready for some excitement – I heard Davey Portnoy is coming to Chicago to stream the National Championship. It’s going to be a wild ride! One more, boys! One more, Will! One more, Jack! ONE MORE, COACH!!!!
