Snowy Struggles vs. Sunny Escapes

Winter Wonderland vs. Winter Woes

As I trudge through the snow-covered streets of Cincinnati, Ohio, I can’t help but feel a pang of jealousy towards Giusy Meloni, who’s currently soaking up the sun in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. This picturesque summer and winter resort town in Northern Italy seems like a world away from my current snow-filled reality.

A Tale of Two Winters

While I’m stuck shoveling 9 inches of snow for the third time today, Giusy is likely ice skating and enjoying the breathtaking scenery of Cortina. It’s hard not to feel a little envious when comparing our winter experiences. But, as I take a moment to appreciate the beauty of snow, I’m quickly reminded of the downsides of being an adult during winter.

The Best Snow Days Are Behind Us

Let’s face it, snow days are only fun when you’re young and carefree. The best snow day scenario is undoubtedly when you’re in college, followed closely by senior year of high school. As a kid, a surprise snow day is always a thrill. But as an adult, snow days are just a hassle.

Sports Drama vs. Winter Bliss

Meanwhile, Giusy is likely oblivious to the drama unfolding in the sports world. In Cincinnati, Bengals fans are still reeling from the team’s recent loss, which was largely due to the Chiefs resting their players and the Broncos’ easy win. It’s a stark contrast to Giusy’s peaceful winter wonderland, where the only drama is deciding which winter activity to enjoy next.
